Brody 9Y 0M Hound/Retriever mix Male Available

I'm just wondering why you haven't come in to NAHS to meet me yet!  I'm a sweet, friendly guy with a gentle heart in search of a family that is going to give me all the love I deserve.  Some of my favorite activities include; snuggling, playing (I especially enjoy soft squeaky toys), going for long walks, and getting lots of love and attention.  I really want to be the only pet in the family because I want all the attention for myself.  Because of my calm temperament, I can live with children of almost age.  If I sound like the right fit for you, come in and meet me!

Carrie 0Y 10M Australian Shepherd Mix Female Available

I traveled a long way from Oklahoma and am still a little nervous to be here.  Everyone has been very nice to me since I've arrived and I am starting to get more comfortable and confident in myself.  I will need a family that will be patient with me and continue to build my confidence.  Because of this, children in my new home should have experience with dogs.  I like most other dogs but cannot live with cats.

Duffy 3Y 1M Retriever Mix Male Available

Hi there!  Duffy here to tell you a bit about myself.  I enjoy playing with toys, going for walks, and my favorite, sitting on laps.  I'm very silly and get excited quite easily.  With that being said, I would do best in an active home where I would get a lot of exercise.  I like most other dogs and would do well living with another playful dog.  Children in my new home should be at least 12 years old since I can play rough and am still working on my manners.

Duke 0Y 6M Bloodhound Male Adopted!

As you can probably tell from my picture, I am a very big puppy.  And at 5 months, I still have a lot of growing to do.  I have some obedience training but will definitely need to continue it.  I love treats and am quite smart if I say so myself so training should be fun.  True to my breed, I like to sniff anything and everything, my nose is always on the ground.  My new owners will have to have experience with my breed and be dedicated to giving me the proper amount of exercise.  I might be able to live with another dog, but no cats please!

Hope 1Y 1M American Pit Bull Terrier mix Female Available

I'm a very energetic girl searching for a family to call my own. My ideal home is one that is active and lively, I am definitely not a couch potato. I like playing with all different types of toys including tennis balls and rope toys. I like some other dogs, but I cannot live with cats. I hope I'm the one you're looking for and you come to see me soon!

Layla 1Y 5M Hound/Retriever mix Female Available in foster home

What a dog like me needs is patience, time, and a lot of love.  I traveled here in hopes of finding my forever home, but the shelter environment was very stressful for me.  Lucky for me, someone was nice enough to bring me into their home and foster me so I can grow and learn in a calm environment.  My foster mom says that I am a sweet and loving dog, and that I am becoming more comfortable each day.  Although I am trying very hard, I am still an extremely shy dog and my new owners will need to be dedicated to helping me get the proper socialization I need.  Because I am very nervous, children in my home should be at least 16 years or older.  Having another calm, but playful dog in my new home might be good for me and might help me come out of my shell...after all, I'm enjoying playing with my two new doggie friends in my foster home!  Would you like to give me a chance?

*Layla is in a foster home.  If you are interested in meeting her, please call the shelter at 630-420-8989*

Maxine 11Y 3M Jack Russell Terrier Female Available

With the way I look and act you would never guess I'm 11 years old.  I'm very playful and I especially love soft, squeaky toys (though I'm sure you can tell by my picture).   I am nervous around new people, and it takes me a while to get comfortable.  Once I know you though I'm all about the attention.  I do need to be the only pet in the home and children should be older and have experience with dogs.  Stop by the shelter and say hi soon!

Riley 3Y 1M American Pit Bull Terrier Mix Male Available

Want to play fetch?  It's my favorite game!  I also enjoy running around and playing with my other dog friends.  And once we're done I would love to snuggle up next to you.  I love attention!  I'm still learning my manners so children in my new home should be older.  I would like to have another playful dog in the home, and could maybe even live with a cat.  If you're looking for an energetic dog I just might be the one for you!

Ruthie 5Y 1M Rat Terrier Mix Female Adopted!

I haven't had the easiest life so far, but I'm looking forward to a fresh start with my new family.  I like being around and meeting new people, especially if they take me for walks.  Even at my age, I could still benefit from obedience training and I think I would do really well.  I would prefer to be the only pet in your life and I have a big enough personality that I'll be all you need.  Am I the one for you?  Don't wait to find out!

Violet 4Y 1M Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix Female Available

I was found stray in Naperville, and was given the name Violet because of my striking blue eyes.  They are one of my many good features if I do say so myself.  I'm a happy, outgoing girl with a lot of love to give.  I really like to be near people -- especially adults -- and would much rather play with you than with a toy.  Children in my new home should be older and have experience with dogs since I am very strong. I need to be the only pet in the house because I'm what they call an attention hog.  LOL!
