What's a happy-go-lucky guy like me doing at the shelter?  Searching for my forever home of course!  I came from Oklahoma, where I lived my life outside.  I'm looking forward to a life of comfort and leisure that I know I deserve.  My energy level is pretty typical for my breed, I love to play with toys and sometimes get so excited that I forget my manners.  I am still fairly young and will need obedience training in order to be the best dog I can be.  Children in my new home need to be at least 16 years old because of my strength and puppy behavior.  I can also be timid around loud noises.  I like some other dogs, but should probably be the only dog in my new home because I am not a big fan of sharing my things.  I might be OK living with a cat though.

I may be small, but don't let that fool you, I'm a very energetic and agile girl!  I absolutely love to play with toys.  The squeakier the better I always say!  I also really enjoy attention and prefer to play with people than by myself.  I might be OK living with another small dog, but no cats for me.  Children in my new home should be at least 12 years old because I can be a bit rough when playing.  Stop by soon and say hi!

I have really opened up since coming to NAHS.  I used to be shy and timid and now I'm getting more comfortable so my outgoing personality is coming out.  I still might be a little nervous when going to a new place, so my new family will need to be understanding that it might take some time for me to get comfortable with them and my new living situation.  One quick way to becoming my friend is to take me for a walk.  I love being outside and get very excited whenever I see a leash.  I think I would be happiest in a quiet home with no young children and no other dogs.  I could possibly live with a dog-savvy cat though.  One last thing about me, I don't have any teeth.  This doesn't stop me from eating, though it does have to be soft food.  If a sweet senior is what you're looking for to complete your family, stop by soon!

I may be considered a 'senior' dog, but I've still got a lot of pep in my step!  Got a squeaky toy?  Bring it my way, I could play for hours!  I do need to learn 'drop it' though, in fact, I need to learn a lot of basic commands.  But I'm definitely willing to learn!  After playing and training, I enjoy a good cuddle session and will happily curl up next to you.  Unfortunately I do have some health issues that come with getting older, my eyes just aren't what they used to be.  The vet doesn't think I'm completely blind, but I do need special eye drops to keep them from getting worse.  I'm not a huge fan of them (but honestly, who would be?) so it would be best if my new family had experience with having to give eye drops.  I don't let my impaired vision keep me from making friends.  In fact, I love most other dogs and might enjoy having a companion in my new home.  However I cannot live with cats.  So if your willing to open your heart and your home to a sweet senior, I promise to keep you entertained with my silly antics!

Franklin, Frankfurter, Frankincense... these are just a few nicknames I've acquired while at NAHS. It's been a little difficult for me to adjust to life here because I'm blind; I have cataracts in both eyes. Just try to imagine how nervous you would be in a strange place without the gift of sight. I feel more comfortable now because I trust the staff and volunteers here. I enjoy going for long walks... I just love all the smells I get from the neighborhood. I also might like hanging out and "watching" TV. Just because I can't see it, doesn't mean I won't like it. Wherever you are is where I'd like to be. Because of my impaired vision, I think it's only fair that I be the only pet in the home. Children should be at least 12 years old because I can startle easily.

You know what really perks me up on a sad day? Tennis balls. I just absolutely love them! I could play all day long, well with some breaks in between. I will need to be your one and only pet, but trust me, there's a lot of me to go around. The vet recommends that I go on something called a "diet". I'm not sure what that means, but if it means I'll be healthier and happier then I'm all for it! They also recommend exercise, and hey, what better exercise than chasing a tennis ball! If I sound like the perfect dog for you, stop by soon and ask to see me! Oh and p.s. because of my size and strength, it would be best if children were 12 years and older. Can't wait to meet you!

Did you know there are a lot of great things about adopting a senior dog? I, for example, am as mellow and gentle as they come. I'm what you would call a couch potato and would rather spend the day watching T.V. than running around outside. I would prefer a quiet home to spend my golden years, and probably one without too many stairs as well. It would be best if children are 8 years and older since I can be nervous in new situations. I would prefer to be the only dog in the home, however I could probably live with a cat. If a snuggle buddy is what you're searching for, then hurry up and stop on by!

Before you ask, no I don't weigh 1000 pounds.  In fact, I'd consider myself to be medium to large size, but I guess it depends on who you're asking.  One thing I am though is very loving.  Some of my favorite activities include meeting new people and snuggling up with them  once we've become friends.  And let me tell you, it doesn't take long for that to happen!  I'm a pretty active guy who likes going for walks and playing with toys.  I can get a bit rowdy when I play so children in my new home need to be at least 12 years old.  I would also be happiest as an only pet, but I promise I have enough love to give that you won't need anyone else!  Oh, and one last thing, I don't see things very well.  In fact, I'm completely blind in one eye, and have very limited vision in the other.  As you can probably tell, I don't let that slow me down too much.  So if you're looking dog that's fun, goofy, and full of life, then stop by the shelter and ask to see me!
