Adopt a Cat

Listed below are the cats currently available for adoption at NAHS. Kittens under the age of 5 months are typically not listed because they find new homes quickly. If you're interested in kittens under the age of 5 months, please call the shelter for more information. The list of available cats is updated frequently, so please check the site often. For more information our adoption process, click here. Bandit 10Y 11M Domestic Longhair Male Available No

My name is Bandit--I think it's because I'll steal your heart away!  I'm very shy and need someone patient who will let me warm up at my own pace.  Once I'm in my new home, I know I'll really thrive and show you lots of love.  I'd probably do best in a quiet home with older children and I'm not sure how I'd do with other cats or dogs.  It just depends on their temperament.  I hope to meet you soon!

Bugsy 13Y 11M Domestic Shorthair Male Available No

Just because I'm 13 doesn't mean I'm not still a busy guy. First, I need to check out what's happening out the window. Next, I'll see if any closets need looking into. Finally, I'll move on to help you while you're working at the computer, or whatever else you might be doing. And then there are my naps -- I can't be late for those! I always have time, however, for hanging out with you! I'm affectionate, snuggly, and gentle! I do like some toys, but I like it best when you can play with me. Having someone to care for me who's not away from home very much is my dream. Are you that person? Visit with me, and you just might realize that you and I are meant to be.

Catarina 9Y 5M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

Here I am on the desk: the perfect office helper. If someone is working at the computer, I'm right there making sure things are done correctly. Some people might say that I'm a stereotypical cat, coming to you when I want attention. While it is true that I want attention on my terms, I don't see anything wrong with that. I'm generally pretty calm, but when the mood strikes me, I like to chase little mouse toys. I don't mind some other cats, but I'm not too sure about dogs; if you ask me, they're big, clumsy, noisy, and they smell weird.  I think children in my new home should be at least 8 years old.

Lady Elaine 7Y 1M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

I'm Lady Elaine!  It's a regal name for an elegant girl like me.  I'm pretty easygoing and will do best in a nice quiet home where I can relax and find a comfortable spot to nap.  While I'm not necessarily a lap cat, I do enjoy being next to my human.  When I'm not napping I enjoy playing with feathers, wand toys, and of course catnip!  I may be okay with another cat but I don't know how I'd do with a dog.  I will add a touch of elegance to any home I go in!

Puma 8Y 1M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

I'm a laid back cat searching for bed to call my own.  A home that is more on the quiet side is what I'm after, but I think the occasional visitor is nice as well.  What I really want is somewhere where I can look out the window and watch all the birds and squirrels go by.  I would prefer to be the only cat in my new home, but might be ok with another calm cat as long as there is plenty of space for us both.  I think it would be best if children are least 8 years old and understand that cats need alone time as well as play time.  Speaking of play time, I really like to play with strings (supervised of course) and toy mice.  If you think we're a match, hurry in and meet me!

Romeo 12Y 2M Domestic Shorthair Male Available No

O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

You called?  Hi there, I'm Romeo and unlike most cats, I do answer to my name!  Though if there is too much commotion I prefer to stay in a safe spot, like the top of the stairs.  I would prefer my new home to be more on the quiet side (not a lot of visitors), because that is what I'm used to and would be more comfortable there.  I've lived with other cats before and young children too.  I enjoy playing with feather toys, toy mice, and catnip just to name a few.  I am a very gentle and sensitive cat, so please be patient while I get used to being in a new home.  But if you give me a chance, I'll show you just how affectionate I can be!

Sambuca 7Y 12M Domestic Shorthair Female Adopted! No

I know I might be a little on the older side, but I can still be quite playful!  I enjoy playing with ball and feather toys, as well as chasing things when they are under blankets or towels.  Personally I think that's the best game.  I can be a bit on the shy side when meeting new people, but am very affectionate when I get more comfortable.  I have lived with other cats before but I'm not so sure about dogs.  I am on a special diet that I will need to continue for the rest of my life so that I can stay strong and healthy.  If a sweet and gentle cat is what you need to complete your family, stop by soon and say hi!
